Hi. I got in my car this morning, after not having driven it in a couple days. A message with a red exclamation mark says: Brake System: Drive moderately. Replace brake pads. Consult service center. Sounds simple, but the thing is, I have only driven it 11k miles in the two years since I bought it and the dash says there are 0mls remaining, but I've never got an error message before. 2013 BMW 528i with 51k miles

Mechanic's Assistant: How old are the rotors? How many miles are on the car?

It was certified pre-owned from the dealer and had one other owner but I can't say the age of the rotors.

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your BMW?

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your 528i yourself? What have you tried so far?

I don't want to touch it. I have had to reset the air pressure sensors, one time each, so I'm wondering if there's a way to reset this sensor?

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Hi, if tou do not know the condition of the brakes when you bought the car, why would you not want to have them changed?

I would have to run down to the car to get the BMW certified preowned checklist. It is on thereOk I just go the certified preowned checklist and it says both rear pads had 9mm.and they just wrote "good" over the rotor check boxes. It had 38k miles then. It has 51k miles now.I just had the oil changed and supposedly fluids topped off two weeks ago.

99.9999999% the light is on because the brakes need to be replaced.
you can try to reset it, but it most likely either wont reset, or will come back immediately.

again, most likely this will not work and you will need to have your brakes replaced.
