Customer Question
I have a 96...

I have a 96 328I had water in oil, replaced head. Now the 0340 intake cam positioning sensor circuit bank 1 light is on. I've rebuilt vanos, changed the sensor, changed the vanos actuator and the light is still on.At times it runs perfect and other times it feels like it's down on power and other times it will buck during acceleration. Help!

Mechanic's Assistant: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?

Check engine light

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your 328i yourself? What have you tried so far?

Just what I've explained

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

I don't think so

Hello and welcome to Just Answer

If you haven't already then I'd do a compression test across all cylinders to double check that they are all within 10-15 psi of each other

and if thats OK then I'd check the condition of the cam position wiring and you can check the cam sensor too by measuring the resistance between pins 2 & 3 ( 0.4 ohm) and 1 & 2 it should be 12.5Ohm
