I have a 2011 BMW X 3. Two years after purchase the gears changed roughly. BMW replaced the transfer case. Now car is running with a noise (almost sounds like the differential from a bus. My mechanic is now suggesting replace the transfer case again but wanted a second opinion before paying 3K

I keep sending a message but continue to be asked the same question

Mechanic's Assistant: How many miles are on the car? Have you noticed any fluid leaks lately?

No fluids--care is 107K miles

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model of your '11 BMW?

X-3

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your X3 yourself? What have you tried so far?

No I have a mechanic

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

No--I think that's it.

Hey how are you

The transfer cases is the most likely again here i agree with your tech, as long as no fluid are leaking ?

now with that said, did the tech scan it using a bmw scanner or equivalent and retrieve fault codes from trans and case ?

do you have check engine light on now ?

did the noise started gradually and suddenly ?

lets start here and we go from there

Please let me know

Thank You
