you have a blown headgasket, cracked head, or cracked block. you need to have a leak down test carried out to localize the failure.

Please let me know if you have further questions. Please do not forget to click a positive rating as this is the only way I receive credit for my answer, thank you. Best wishes with your vehicle...

How to do localize test ?
Customer reply replied 11 months ago
I mean leak down test.
BMW Mechanic: Steve, BMW Expert replied 11 months ago

you need to have a shop preform a leak down test with proper equipment. this will localize it. you can't do this test at home. Please do not forget to click a positive rating

They are not expert in German. That's the reason I am asking here. Does compression test tells exact issue?
BMW Mechanic: Steve, BMW Expert replied 11 months ago

a leakdown test is a leakdown test on any engine. it doesn't matter if its german or not.

no a compression test does not tell the exact issue, a leakdown test will.

Customer reply replied 11 months ago
If compression test doesn't confirm... What is required for leak down test?
BMW Mechanic: Steve, BMW Expert replied 11 months ago

please see my answer above. an air compressor and leak down tester is required. Please do not forget to click a positive rating

BMW Mechanic: Steve, BMW Expert replied 11 months ago

You have a blown head gasket, cracked head, or cracked block. If the shop you are at cannot diagnose the issue, you need to take the car somewhere that can.

Mechanic says engine looks ok. It may be trans oil
BMW Mechanic: Steve, BMW Expert replied 11 months ago
hi, if you have a new question about transmission oil in the coolant, please open a new question, per site policy. as the present question about engine oil has been answered, please kindly select a positive rating

Customer reply replied 11 months ago
I said oil mix with coolant,. I do not know it's trans or engine oil.
BMW Mechanic: Steve, BMW Expert replied 11 months ago
I have answered the original question and many additional questions. If you would like to open a new line of questioning, you will need to do so per site policy. Oil is engine oil, not transmission fluid.
