Hi, I am Mike, welcome. I'm reviewing your question.
How much battery voltage do you have both with key off and with the key on start?
It should be at least 12 volts with key off and not drop 9.6 volts with the key on start.
What were the voltages?
When he said he had power to the starter motor, is that where the big battery cable hooks to it or also where the wire comes from the ignition switch and relay for the solenoid?
Ok, first check this fuse, #f105 in the fuse holder.
See if there is a #105 there.
I believe that is it, right rear under the hood.
Someone else say it is behind the glove box.
Shown here, although it doesn't show 105 but does show 104 and 107.
The ignition switch and the immobilizer, seen in this wiring diagram.
Let me check for sure in the owners manual if Ian get it, so tell me the last 7 digits of the vin.
you have an owners manual?
I tried here but it didn't work, https://www.bmwusa.com/owners-manuals.html
Then it should show where the f105 fuse is and the fuse holder.
Ok. If and when you find that fuse and it is ok, next would be to find the starter relay and put your finger tips on it and feel if it clicks one time when the key is turned to start.
I don't know where the starter relay is, the manual doesn't say.
It's late and bedtime for me, I'll be on tomorrow around noon eastern US
I am on now, Have you found that f105 fuse and the starter relay yet?
I assume you found it and it was blown.
Don't forget to rate me well, so I get credit. If you don't, the deposit you made will just sit there and I won't get my share of it.
