2008 328 i convertible. The forward corners of the trunk lid

Customer Question

2008 328 i convertible. The forward corners of the trunk lid are not seating correctly . 1/4 to 3/8 gap
JA: Have you tried silicone spray or WD-40?
Customer: No, nor have I used duct tape. External pressure on the corners fail to seat them
JA: Are you fixing your Convertible yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I am looking to purchase this car, but do not want an immediate trip to the dealer to get the trunk lid re-aligned. The trunk struts look new so I suppose it is possible they are the incorrect length.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no
