Immobilizer/EWS issues with my 2007 X3 (74K miles) Initial

Customer Question

immobilizer/EWS issues with my 2007 X3 (74K miles)
JA: Are you fixing your X3 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Initial diagnosis at a very good (general)repair shop. Now at a BMW/Merc shop but I'd like to know what I'm in for.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Car is in pristine water damage to the interior (likely not corrosion to the module).

Hello and welcome,

My name is ***** ***** it will be my pleasure to assist you today.
what is the issue you are having?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
39;07 X3 won't start (battery is new; all other usual suspects have been ruled out). Reputable shop suspects the immobilizer module. What should I expect for cost to replace?
Expert:  Steve replied 11 months ago.

an ews module lists for $155, then you will be looking at 1-2 hours labor to install and program at the shop rate.

Please let me know if you have further questions. Please do not forget to click a positive rating as this is the only way I receive credit for my answer, thank you. Best wishes with your vehicle.

thanks...although I've seen quotes from $3-4K. Are we talking about the same thing? That said...I like your number better :)

an ews module is $155. In newer vehicles with a Car Access System it is more expensive. Please do not forget to click on a positive rating.
