have a 95 540i ran great but now has no power. overheated once had radiator/engine flushed. engine code 153 had vacum leaks repaired tested maf sig to ecm & tcm checked out ok

As its overheated I'd suggest to do a acompression test across all cylinders as they shoudl all be within 10-15 pis of each other

an overheated engine can suffer from a warping of castings so losing the seal on the head gasket and losing compression - this then results in a lack of power

to get the 153 fault code , this translates to a faulty load signal

this is mainly generated by the MAF meter though so I'd next suggest to clean the MAF sensor wires, asthey can get coated with dirt over timewhich then offsets the reading

Use some contact cleaner or brake cleaner to spray onto the wires to remove the dirt – on no account touch the wires with anything as they are very fragile
