When driving home the RED STOP ENGINElightcame on for a few

Customer Question

When driving home the RED STOP ENGINElightcame on for a few seconds and then went out. The oil temp gauge was normal and I couldn't stop for about 5 miles. I pulled into my local garage. The mechanic checked the oil level and it is where it should be. I then drove one mile home without any light coming on. Should I be concerned?
JA: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Customer: The light on the display on the dash board. It came up with flashing red light reading STOP ENGINE
JA: What is the model/year of your BMW?
Customer: 2003 BMW X5 4.4i
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I will not try to fix it myself. I have done nothing but worry about it.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: I recently had the front lower timing gaskets replaced with a timing cover gasket set part number*********** It cost over $2000 to repair.
