My 00 bmw 323i keeps throwing a p0340 error intake cam

Customer Question

My 00 bmw 323i keeps throwing a p0340 error for the intake cam position sensor. Dealer checked the part and it checked out okay. Wiring harness to ecu checked for broken wires, none found. Harness okay. Besides checking the actual physical timing, what else could be causing this. The service person at local bmw dealership doesnt think the dme is bad. No code for the vanos unit so i don't think that's the problem.? Confused
