The car is throwing the p0706 and p0700 and going into fail safe mode. What do I need to fix it.

P0700 is meaningless, it just says the transmission is requesting a check engine light

the other code relates to the transmission position switch at the transmission itself being faulty or damaged or having a wiring/connection issue. the fix will be to check the wiring/connection and ultimately likely a replacement of the switch

it is called the drive range switch and is internal to the transmission, build into the mechatronics unit. BMW does not sell this part separately from the mechatronics. the mechatronics part number is *****
