My issue with my x3 2.5i year 2005 is that the idling is eratic and difficult to start without having my foot on the accelerator pedal.

Hello, the mass air flow sensor may just have some debris on the element wire causing it to read improperly. I suggest cleaning it with some mass air flow sensor cleaner (available at any parts store) and reseting the computer. If this does not remedy the problem just reply back.
