Customer Question

I also have a 03 x5 3L 5spd
Owned it since new, 191,000 miles
From new it burned 1qt / 1,000 to 1,500 mi. Now its 1 qt/ 250 mi.
Ive always used synthetic 5w-30 (San Luis Obispo, Ca - mild weather
Have had local shop look at, no luck
Its white, i can see very small "droplets" of what could be oil on the rear surfaces
Ive read changing oil weight might help,
Not sure what yo do.

if there is suction at the oil cap then the crankcase ventilation system has failed and is the cause of your issue. If you took this car to a shop and they missed this, don't go back

you should be using a BMW specialist or dealer for the work on this car. Suction at the oil cap is hallmark for a failed crankcase ventilation system.
