Customer Question

My 2006 X3 has 135K miles on it. Enjoy the car but have a transfer case problem. Independent BMW (non dealership) mechanic shop says they can't access it and have to COR it. New one with labor will be about $4K. See alot of rebuilds on the website and U-Tube actually performing the rebuild. Is it a part that can't be opened up and rebuilt locally? Thank you
