1999 BMW: P0011..A Camshaft Position Timing Over-Advanced..sensors

This answer was rated:

1999 BMW E38 with P0011 Error Code. 'A' Camshaft Position Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1). Can I continue to drive it and should both sensors be replaced? Also, since they are doing this should anything else be checked?

I have seen cam position codes. Never like this. They do then to fail....usually its going to give you a failure in the circuit "timing not readable" type code. Replace the sensor if code comes back check the wireing to the DME. If all is ok. Reset the engine timing. You must get on this ASAP! Otherwise engine damage may occur
