Automakers Toyota and General Motors have announced recalls of several car models, according to news reports on Wednesday.
Toyota recall includes Prius
Toyota Motor Corp. said it will recall nearly 2.8 million cars worldwide, including some of the popular Prius hybrid vehicles, over a steering glitch. The carmaker cited flaws in a water pump and the steering shaft that could cause steering errors, the Associated Press reported.
The recall affects roughly 670,000 autos in the United States, and the affected models include the Prius, Corolla, and Wish. For more information on the model years and details of the recall, visit the Toyota Recall Information site.
Air-bag defect in some GM cars
The GM recall involves an estimated 15,575 cars, including Cadillac, Buick and Chevrolet sedans. Reuters reported driver-side air bag defects in the 2012-model Buick Verano, Chevrolet Cruze, and Chevrolet Sonic. In addition, the rear-seat head restraints in the 2013-model Cadillac XTS sedan may not lock.
GM dealers will repair the flaws free of charge. Use this GM lookup tool to see if your car model is affected.
