Customer Question
My bird got his...

My bird got his head stuck in between the cage and the cage door about 45 minutes ago. He is acting very lethargic now. He is still drinking but seems to be in a lot of pain especially around his neck or esophagus area.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Expert will know how to help your bird. What is the bird's name and age?

His name is ***** ***** I'm not sure how old he is. He is young but he is not a baby

Veterinarian's Assistant: How old is Nico?

I'm not entirely sure. Maybe like 2 years old.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Nico?

He is also squinting his eyes a lot and puffing his feathers out.

I'm sorry to hear of this with Nico. It's important not to do at this time; in other words, limit handling and place Nico in a quiet, warm, darkened area. You can dissolve an adult 325 mg aspirin in 1/2 of a pint of water and use that as his only drinking source. You can check on him periodically and if you believe him to be failing, have an on-call avian vet attend to him. I understand the difficulty of finding an avian vet in the best of circumstances, much less over the holiday, however. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
