I am sorry to hear that your birds are having a problem. I'll do what I can to assist you. First, the description that all of your birds of multiple different species have stopped eating and have abnormal stools suggest a gastro-intestinal problem that is effecting their intestines. Furthermore, the problem is most likely infectious or can spread from one animal to another most likely by contaminated feces since multiple birds from your flock to include both ducks and chickens are showing signs. The fact that your birds are only showing abnormal droppings and no other problems including respiratory signs makes parasites the most likely cause of your problem although viruses and bacterial or even fungal problems or even poisons/toxins such as lead which can affect whole groups of birds cannot be ruled out at this time without more information.Second, I would not recommend we just administer medications blindly without knowing what we are dealing with. This generally will result in you wasting your hard earned money and your birds not getting better. In fact using the wrong medicine or wrong dose can make the problem worse and hurt your birds. Instead I would recommend you obtain fecal samples from several chickens and the duck. You want the brown/green part of their droppings. You can refrigerate it overnight if you can't get it to your veterinarian the same day. This will allow your local veterinarian to determine which parasite is causing the problem. Finding out what type of parasite is the culprit is important since different parasite requires different medications to kill them. This cheap and quick fecal test (results can be provided the same day or have a 24 hour turn around time usually) can tell us what type of parasite we are dealing with and what is the best medicine designed to kill them. For example, trimethoprim sulfa and sulfadimethoxazole are often used against Protozoa including coccidia. Fenbendazole is often used against round worms and praziquantel deals with tape worms.Meanwhile, you want to provide supportive care to your birds by ensuring they are drinking. You can even syringe feed them water or pedjakyte to keep them from getting dehydrated.I hope that has provided some information for you. I would recommend you visit a veterinarian experienced working with avian species or birds. You can locate a local veterinarian in your area by going to the following link which lists vets by state or province.http://www.aav.org/search/custom.asp?id=1803I hope this helps. If you have further questions or concerns please let me know. I wish you and your bird all the best.Dr. Adamski
