Hi. I'm Dr. Denise, a licensed veterinarian. I can help with your question regarding your finch? What condition are you treating in your Finch?
Expert:  Dr. Michael Salkin replied 2 months ago.

To answer you directly, dosing for cephalexin orally is done at 50 - 100 mg/kg of body weight every 6-12 hours. A 10 g finch, then, would receive 1 mg every 6-12 hours when dosed at 100 mg/kg. It's not possible to dose a 500 mg capsule down to 1 mg accurately without sophisticated laboratory equipment and so I encourage your having an avian vet (www.aav.org) prescribe a more appropriate oral antibiotic for your finch. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
