Customer Question

My chicken had lots of poop stuck to her butt. I gave her a bath with a little dish soap first, then one with a little hydrogen peroxide. She is not moving around. I gave her layer pellets and she ate some. What steps should I take?

Grtetchen, I need you to bring this hen inside as shown here: We need to know if she's truly diarrheic or simply isn't keeping herself clean. She appears to be appetent but I need you to watch for other symptoms - changes in her eyes, nasal discharge, sneezing, gaping, coughing, regurgitating, vomiting, increased respiratory rate, lameness, or squatting repeatedly as if to lay. We don't have much to go on at this time. How old is this hen? Has she been molting? Laying?
