My chickens are 3 yrs old. The rooster and 3 hens are fine

Customer Question

My chickens are 3 yrs old. The rooster and 3 hens are fine but one has diarrhea (sp). I am assuming it is something she ate. I have a trail cam set up in the coop as I have an egg eater. I took an egg and injected hot sauce into it. The egg was then consumed. Could this be why she is sick?

Hello, I'm Dr. Bob. Your theory is quite possible, but the hot sauce was probably not the deterrent you might have hoped, since birds regularly eat very hot peppers with no problem. How often had you noticed the egg eating behavior before "spiking" the egg?
