Our grey has been nesting the last few days. Cuddling more

Customer Question

Hi our grey has been nesting the last few days. Cuddling more peacefully than she ever has. Last days hanging inside a box. Just cuddled and she pooped what looked like bloody placenta or mucas like liquid when she pooped. She's eating and chirping but made strange noises earlier in box with beak buried in box shavings. Any thoughts?

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. We don't have many avian vets on this site. Birds don't form placentas and so the blood you saw may have come from her oviduct while she was passing an egg or from her gastrointestinal tract. What have subsequent movements looked like, please? Has she laid an egg(s)?
