I have a chicken, who is 2 or 3 years old. We have just returned from holiday and my mum has been looking after the chickens (5 in total). We noticed that Bella is very listless and will not move out of the way if you go near her. Her belly is very swollen and feels warm, but you can feel her breastbone. She sits down a lot and can't even jump over the wooden plank to get out of the run into the garden. Her tail is bobbing up and down as she breathes and she looks very sorry for herself. I watched her yesterday and she was eating and drinking OK. Her comb was very pale and small, so I put some shellmax and poultry cider vinegar in the water, which she drank and her comb returned to red, but still small. I also put some Flubenvet in the pellets. She is still very poorly and if you try to pick her up she falls over as she can't walk very well. Any ideas? … read more
