from the range of symptoms you are having, it sounds like you have multiple vitamin, iron, and protein deficiencies. These are all very common long-term consequences from jejuno-ileal bypass, and happen to a greater or lesser extent in over 30% of J-I bypass patients. The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons recommends that any patient who had jejunoileal bypass get that operation reversed or revised to a different bariatric operation. The good news is that oftentimes the symptoms can be reversed and the deficiencies corrected with surgical reversal or revision to another bariatric procedure, like roux-en-y gastric bypass.
My recommendation for you would be to contact a bariatric surgeon in your area. They can pore over your records, operative note from your original bypass, and give you some advice on how to improve your malnutrition. Oftentimes, we can convert a jejunoileal bypass to a different bariatric procedure with lower risk of malnutrition, or reverse it completely. Chances are good that you still have all the parts in your abdomen to recreate a pretty normal GI tract.
Some of the best metabolic and bariatric surgeons in the world are pretty close to you. Dr. Ninh Nguyen at UC Irvine(###) ###-####, Dr. Alan Whitgrove in La Jolla(###) ###-####, and Dr. Kelvin Higa in Fresno(###) ###-#### are 3 surgeons that come to mind immediately and can almost certainly get your problems sorted out and provide you with the correct advice, after reviewing your records. Cedar Sinai also has a very good program in Los Angeles. Dr. Higa is currently conducting a research study that follows patients with your surgery that end up having a laparoscopic revision to a roux-en-y gastric bypass (which he performs), and he would certainly be excited to help you out with your problems. Fresno may be a considerable drive for you, but if I had to choose one person to get your problems sorted out, Dr. Higa would be at the top of the list.

Good morning. Dr Higa is in Fresno. I would at least give him a call and discuss your situation with him. He is perhaps the most knowledgeable person in the world, when it comes to your problem. Reversal of jejunoileal bypass is actually not as involved or dangerous as most people think, and oftentimes it can be done laparoscopically. In any event, Dr. Higa will give you the best advice, based on your medical history.
