The current wildcard exemption is $1100 for any property plus the unused amount of the homestead or burial plot exemption. If you have no property to exempt, you can add your $20,725 homestead exemption to the $1,100 wild card exemption to protect up to $21,825 of any property.

I seam to be getting different amounts from different attorneys. Are you sure that is the most current. My bankruptcy attorney is saying $23,500, we have no homestead

It appears that your attorney is correct. My information was outdated. The wildcard exemption is $1,175 plus the unused portion of the real property exemption (total possible wildcard amount is $23,250)
