Abandonment of assets is a phrase used by a Trustee in a bankruptcy. It means that the trustee is not claiming the asset for the benefit of creditors. To clarify, when a debtor files a bankruptcy, all property becomes property of the bankruptcy estate. When a trustee abandons the property, it is no longer part of the estate.
