What is Asperger's? I think 's because I miss social cues…

What is Asperger's? I think...

What is Asperger's? I think I am Asperger's because I miss social cues very easily, and people often tell me that I'm "weird?" I took an IQ test more than two decades ago. While I scored at least average if not well above average in most areas, I scored very low in the social test. That test is where you had to put pictures in chronological order. I would miss subtle but important details and scored in the 9th percentile. Is that a symptom of Asperger's? Or is it actually an IQ problem? Does Asperger's have anything to do with IQ? Or are they totally separate? It is very strange for a person with a relatively normal IQ to score very low just in one area. Most average people would score within average ranges in all areas of an IQ test. My overall IQ was 116. I understand that IQ tests are always changing and results may be different now if I took it again. So, what may my problem be? Do I just have a low social IQ? Or is it Asperger's? And is it the same thing?

Thanks for all the details. So, I understand that being on the autism spectrum may or may not have any correlation with IQ. But could it affect one's IQ score, especially on the social test, as people with Asperger's have social difficulties?

Oh, I see. I bet that is why I scored so low in the social portion of the IQ test, while scoring at least average if not well above average in all the other areas. In that test that I took more than two decades ago, I didn't see a man accidentally stepping on a dog's tail, that someone was pulling the door shut instead of pushing it, or that a musical note was turned upside down on a student's music stand. That's all I recall, as that was a long time ago. Does that sound like social cues I would miss in real life if I am indeed Asperger's?

I took that questionnaire and scored 33. So, it looks like I am barely considered highly likely to be autistic. It makes sense to me.It is getting awfully late where I am. I need to sleep soon. But you can answer my last question about missing social cues in real life when you are available again. I will reply when I wake up.
