Hi! What you're describing isn't unusual, especially as kids with Asperger's get a bit older. Emotionally they tend to be not as mature or as well-equip to deal with the stresses in their environments.

Sometimes medication is helpful and those can either be prescribed by a pediatric psychiatrist, sometimes a pediatric neurologist, and sometimes his pediatrician. I can try to identify providers in your area if that would be helpful. Getting in touch with your local autism society may also be helpful. It sounds like he would also benefit from talk therapy and you might want to seek out someone in your area who specializes in therapy/counseling for children with Asperger's. Typically you would be looking for someone with a PhD in child psychology, LCSW (licensed clinical social worker), or master's level psychologist.

It's not uncommon for children with Asperger's to be affected by other neuropsychological problems such as ADD, OCD, depression, anxiety, etc. It's important that these disorders be considered and treated appropriately if needed.
