Please tell me more about what has led you to believe that your daughter has Asperger's syndrome?
Customer:
When she was 4, I took her for speech therepy, at 5 she was not ready for school but she went into grade 1 but they held her back

as she was not ready.Her motor skill we not there. She could not skip or jump and I did not think she would ever ride a 2 wheel bike

How was she socially with family members? Would she make eye contact, seek their attention, share her excitement with others even if she couldn't verbalize it?

but she had great determination and was successful. She had a difficult time with friends. She was bullied all through her school years

Did she seek friends out or was she aloof and distant?

My children were like 2 families separated by 7 years. Her brother was 2 years older andthey seemed to be fine with one another. I didn't realize she had a problum until 4 or 5. She could verbalize but was awkward with anything she did.

Was she not accepted because of her speech and motor delays or was she not accepted because her approach was socially awkward or inappropriate?

It appears that you are no longer online. The information that you have provided so far indicates that your daughter had speech and motor delays that may have resulted in bullying and ostracism from peers. As to whether she has Asperger's syndrome or not, the information provided does not lead me to suspect so. That does not mean that she doesn't, I just don't have enough information at this time to give you a more definitive answer as to the likelihood.

Regarding approaching your daughter about your suspicion, I suggest considering how such a diagnosis at this point in life would be of benefit to her. Will it improve her current quality of life or is the goal to shed light on things that have happened in the past? You also must consider that if she is upset about her childhood and how she was treated, bringing up this possibility could cause an emotional reaction and she may indeed become angry or upset and direct those feelings towards you.
