Good morning! My name is ***** ***** I have been in the service of people with Aspergers Disorder for more than twenty five years. In turn, I have two master's degrees, one in Special Education and the second in Individual and Social Rehabilitation. I have taken psychopharmacology at two medical universities as well as participated in a longitudinal study of Zoloft with Yale Medical and Yale Child Studies clinic. I very much would like to answer your question.

I do understand the taking of the Clonozepam, a bit less so of the GABA inhibitor (Zolpidem) and completely clueless about the use of an antipsychotic medication. I am not a medical doctor, but specifically studied psychopharmacoloy as it pertains to Autism Spectrum Disorders. Does your daughter even become delusional or hallucinate in any way? In other words, does she have a secondary diagnosis?

In my experience, the only people I have worked with who had such a secondary (or at times the primary diagnosis) of one of misdiagnosis. Often, the anxiety becomes so high that it has tended to become a "mimic" of psychosis, when in fact it is a long period of overwhelm that is being observed.

As I do not know exactly what your daughter is being prescribe the medication for, if you could let me know, I could speak more clearly about medications I have seen used, and to what end. There are some that show great promise, especially with Asperger's. For your daughter, I do not think the major concern would be that of weight gain, but rather mixing an antipsychotic with a system that already has a) two medications in it and b) has a significantly different way of metabolizing.
