We have been renting the house we are in for just over 2
We have been renting the house we are in for just over 2 years. In May this year our lease was up for renewal. The agent had a conversation with my husband and said they were sending a new lease out to us to be signed. It never arrived. When I tried to follow up, she said they were really busy and would get on to it tonight. (In the meantime, my Dad passed away and I stopped following up). The next communication we had was for a rent inspection. Then the next was on 30th November 2021 giving 60 days notice. We started looking for a rental straight away, but obviously it's not easy at the moment. On the 27th of January, we sent an email to our agent asking if it was at all possible to extend the lease as we hadn't been able to secure another property. To this day, we have not received a reply to that email. We continued to pay rent and sent another email on the 1st Feb reminding them that we hadn't heard from them. In the meantime we have been preapproved for a loan and this week our financial advisor contacted the agents and asked if the owners were open to selling and for how much. This morning we got an email saying that the owners were looking at selling but wanted to put it on the public market and we needed to be out by 28/2. I am about to find out how quickly I can get any sort of motel or any type of accommodation so as to still be able to do vacate cleans and everything that goes with that. Just wondering about the time line - since they never responded to any of our requests, can they insist on 28/2? … read more
