Because of the workers compensation laws they can require you to see their doctor to ensure they comply with their insurer and also that you are covered.

This is something that insurers are now requiring to make sure that there is no pre-existing issue that may cause issues.

But if they refuse you work until then you have to be paid and not out of your sick leave.

I understand this but because you have had the injury for you to be properly covered the insurer for workers compensation has to be 100% certain you are ok to go back. This is why they are now asking for an independent drs report so you are covered if anything happens at work.

If you are not cleared and work then there will be a dispute about when the injury occurred was it related to the off work one or not.

I hope I have alleviated any confusion I have caused.
