I live in Victoria and own small business in melbourne. The lease was coming up for renewal at end of October. I had to give 3 months notice if i was renewing the lease. I advised in writing that I wasn't going to renew the lease. I did not have a buyer for the business at time. Since then i found a buyer for the business and requested a transfer of the lease from the landlord to the new buyer. The landlord has advised they have refused the transfer of the lease and quoted my original letter advising i was not continuing with lease as their grounds for refusal.
