Hi there. I am currently on maternity leave. Last year there was a resructure in the organisation. Several roles were and people impacted. I am a manager and my team was dissolved and team members were redeployed to a new team. Last year at the time of the restructure. I was contacted and advised that I would be managing this new team upon my return in November. I contacted the organisation to extend my leave in October and also advised that I may return part time 3 days with a view to return to full time within a few months. Everything was fine until I received a phone call last week asking me to come into the office to meet the team and discuss changes to my role. It turns out now that they believe the new role as manger they don't believe it to be the same as what I was doing previously. It was implied the role is different due to targets, reports and scope. They are offering two alternate options which they feel fit my skillset and may have been responsible for before maternity leave. Both roles are Lead roles, different job title to my previous role which was a manager. I will now be reporting into my replacement and my replacement will be managing the team. The role which I was advised I will return to. The other position offered to me is my replacements old role, which is the Lead role in a completely different area. I was advised the roles are comparable, however my former title was manager not a Lead, and a Lead in terms of hierarchy is below a manager in the organisation. Can you please advise if I may have a case against discrimination? In the event I disagree that either role is not suitable for me, what are my options? Thanking you in advance
