Sorry, this is going to be a explanation. I live in
I live in Queanbeyan NSW. I received a text message from my real estate on the 22nd of January saying I owed $110 on my rent which is paid direct debit of $440 every week. When I called the real estate to question it, they said it's a glitch in the system and I don't owe any money. I kept receiving messages each week so I called again today. The receptionist said the rent had increased by $10 a week which had taken place in January. I questioned how this would add up to $170 if it's only been a month. She said she'd get the agent for my property to call me. When she called back, she said it was actually increased in August and that explains the amount. I said I don't understand why the first person I spoke to said it was a glitch and I didn't owe any money. Then she said she sent a letter detailing the rent increase in August but only has proof that she sent it, not that I received it. She said sorry but that's not her fault, that's just how the system works. I have been with this rental agency for years and never had a problem. I also asked why, when they had both mine and my husbands email addresses and phone numbers, they didn't follow this up sooner and the only thing I can do is send the real estate a letter to the landlord to complain and that I do not wish to backpay money I didn't know I owed. … read more

Deborah. I have an issue regarding a rental agreement. I
I have an issue regarding a rental agreement. I entered into a twelve month agreement to rent a property at*****in Hastings Vic 3915 through Harcourts in Hastings. Soon after moving in the landlord approached me asking if I would like to break the lease as she was interested in moving back into the house. My response was that I couldnt move on that soon due to ongoing settlemnt issues with my ex wife. She then offered that she would be happy for me to move out of the property at any time throughout the lease period. I stayed in the property for nine months and was up to date with rental payments. I then notified the landlord (first), followed by the Real Estate agent that I would like to break the lease early due to moving interstate, and made the property available for open for inspections three times per week while packing to move. The result is that I was not told that I would have to keep paying rent until a tenant was found and I was under the impression that the landlord was going to facilitate my exit from the contract without financial cost. Two weeks before I moved out of the property I paid a full months rent and enquired about the condition inspection done by Harcourts. At this point I have been told that the property has passed a successful condition inspection by the agent but I have not received any bond monies back. Due to the disputed contractual situation I have not paid any further rent and am currently told that I am 6 days overdue. Can you please advise me where I stand in relation to 1. the contract, and 2. my bond money for return … read more
