I'm needing legal advice g Regarding a common assualt

An altercation happened between my ex partner and i at a club (at the external area). Neighbours had called the police and they arrived shortly after. At this moment, I was quite overwhelmed and recall asking them about the process for ontaining an AVO. They then placed an AVO on my ex-partner and said that this was their initiative.They came to place a few hours later, saying that they got the CCTV of my ex partner attacking me so they will go to arrest abd charge him irrespective, although they also wanted my statement. I mentioned multiples times that i wasn't feeling well and didn't wish to provide a statement. They were very pushy and i felt intimidated and manupulated. I ended up providing a statement.I'm about to go to court this week to revoke the AVO that has been placed on him. However, this morning the police have informed me that they're now charging me common assault over an incident that happened inside the club. On the fact sheet it states..The accused was playing a gaming machine with the victim sitting on the right of her. The accused and the victim were embroiled in a verbal argument over an unknown matter. Shortly after the accused has taken a set of earphones from her handbag and the victim has grabbed the earphones with his left hand from the accused. The accused used the back of her right hand to strike the victim across the left side of his face.

The fact sheet also states that when they arrested, he made no statement. Then after being in police custody and after the electronically recorded interview of him informing the police of being assaulted by me.The constable also contacted me last week and asked me to come in to see him. He didn't really explain what it was regarding, besides saying that it was in relation to another incident and provided me different dates to when the actual incident had happened. I said that i have nothing to add.. On the fact sheet, it states that he contacted me to offer a protective suspect interview and I advised them that I'm not willing to speak to police over the incident.Although, I had no idea what they were really contacting me for and after multiple interactions with them, i just didn't want to be manipulated further.They have also put an AVO on me nowCan you please help? I cannot have a criminal conviction as I in tend to be working overseas in banking. I also have never had any charges before. I'm the sole supporter for my family and I'm just going through so much anxiety at the moment.
