I have to go to a vcat hearing as a landlord. The whole case
I have to go to a vcat hearing as a landlord. The whole case is a complete lie by a mentally unstable person. Her main claim is that we forced her to buy a carpet for your flat. After 8 days she moved out and we returned all her rent money including bond. So she was living 8 days for free. Now she wants $ 260 for carpet, two years storage fee for the same carpet and then disposal fee for it. a total of nearl $ 5000.I have offered her to buy the carpet out of good will, she never replied to that email. Now she lodged a vcat complaint with hearing in March. It is one big joke. What can i do ot make sure i do not need to pay for this outrages claim? She has a history of doing things llike that, however i can not prove that … read more

I rented an apartment and I moved in yesterday. As soon as I moved in I realised that some things in the apartment there are not properly cleaned (oven, garbage bins, mull on the windows) despite the fact that the manager assured me that professionals cleaned the apartment. It is obvious that the apartment was cleaned by the previous tenants and they did not do a good job. I cannot accept it in its current condition. But because of how the real estate agents work I already paid my bond and the first month rent. I will be happy if they bring someone to clean properly the apartment. So, I was wondering what are my rights under the law about this kind of things? … read more
