I purchased a French Bulldog puppy 6 months ago and signed a desexing contract stating I would have my pup desexed by 6 months old. Long story short the pup had several health issues that needed to be resolved & 2 vets recommended I delay they pups desexing until after her first heat. She is now 8 months old and the breeder is becoming very disgruntled and pushing me to desex her. I have assured the breeder I do not want to breed the dog, I just want what is best for her health and wellbeing. So my question is do desexing contracts stand up in court, especially if I haven't bred the dog? … read more

A lady I barely know and who I met in the first week of
A lady I barely know and who I met in the first week of October 2018 had just bought a female dog (with the intention to breed with her other male dog) - she had the dog for not a week and was not coping with both animals and issues in her neighbourhood - essentially she was having a meltdown - asked me to take the female dog which I did and care for it until things settled down. About a month later she came to visit and things seemed better so she took the dog back. A week after that she called me to come and take the dog again as she wasn't coping - so I picked the dog up again. I have now had the dog for approximately 3 months. I made 2 offers tp initially buy the dog off her as she was contemplating sending it back to the breeder - but nothing eventuates. The original owner also mentioned that if she did let me have the dog that she would want to impregnate her with her male in June of 2019. The dog has now been in heat for 3.5 weeks and I would not be willing to go down this track should the animal stay with me - I would like to get her spayed before she came into heat again. What are my rights in regard to ownership and how should I go about negotiating the situation? … read more
