I am 26yo living in melbourne. In 2017 I was on a Working Holiday Visa (417) and was employed at a cafe. The owner was paying me $18/hour and not on the books, no tax collected, no super paid and no pay slips. I asked for payslips many times with the excuse I needed for my future visa application. He gave me some Excel made payslips with missing information and stating I was getting paid $20/hour. I have photos of the roster, TXT exchanged with him, recording inside the cafe, videos/photos of my envelopes with the paid amount for the week (which can cross-check with the roster) and I have almost all the envelopes I ever got from him (and they contain his hand writing on it). As I was on a WHV I believe I could only work for the same employer for 6 month, and I worked there for almost an year as I had no other experience, english wasn't the best and couldn't get another job (I applied many times). I am currently waiting on a decision for a Partner Visa (on shore) and my question is: Can I report this employer without getting in trouble? Is that an excuse the fact that I was underpaid and unable to find another job to pay my bills, and therefore I continued working there? Thanks for your time. … read more
