Did you tell them and did they approve you take the pension overseas?
Here are the rules
When to tell us your travel plans
You need to tell us you’re leaving Australia if you:
- are going to live in another country
- will be away for more than 6 weeks
- get payments under a social security agreement with another country
- came back to live in Australia within the last 2 years and started getting Age Pension since then
Otherwise you don’t need to tell us about your travel. The immigration department will tell us when you leave and return.
If you fail to comply they will cancel your pension
Your absence is a long one and they will cut you off and you will have to apply when you get back
Contact them and see what you can do with them to keep the pension so you do not have to re-apply
Advise when you left you were not in receipt and that you have only just been made aware of the issue
But do this ASAP
If they again refuse to listen you have to lodge an application with the AAT but it would be best if you could be here but It is understandable that you are away and that may not be possible.
