I need your help. After signing of lease contract in Assure
After signing of lease contract in Assure property office on 13. Mar, the agent Isaac let me know I need to share the electricity and gas bill with the next door which looks like an independent house as there are fences around but it's a granny flat connected to 8 Millar Place that I'm staying now. I was embrassed but I accepted as it's hard to find rent house, I have 2 kids and a little baby and I thought the account was already opened under the next door person as there were tenants when I had an inspection. I met the next door Mr. Priyal Kulawansa who is staying in 8A Millar Place to say hello and he didn't have any information regarding the bill like me. I've also recognised the house was granny flat as he said. And he will move out in 6months. If I open an account under my name, I worry about the next tenant who wants to move into 8A. Why I have to worry about the next tenant who can pay the bill or not behalf on the owner of this house? The agent Isaac who is in charge of this property asked for me to pay with head accounts. It's not fair for all. We are all 5 and the 8A is 4. Isaac advised me my case was 4.5 cuz of a 19months old baby. But the next door is 2by 1 n my house is 4by2. I've kept asking for the owner to install new metre or open an account under his name but the agent didn't answer at all. The synergy emailed me it will be disconnected very soon as the account is not opened but usage is happening. This is urgent but they didn't anything for me and suggest any solutions. After having keys on 13.Mar I checked the condition report. This house hasn't cleaned at all, the gas cook top made some noise and didnt work properly and the lights for 2 rooms didn't work at all even husband tried to fix them. I asked them to fix it strongly and straight away. The bad condition of air-conditioner, no tower rails in shower rooms, broken drawers and unlocked garage door etc had been reported straight away. Even they had a time to fix them they didn't do anything till I moved in and didn't organise things at all. I've tried to contact Isaac. He just said there's no answer from the owner and now he tried to avoid my calls. On 24. Mar, a friend of mine visited me and she smelled gas leaking. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be able to write this. Only then did a plumber come in and fix the gas, and the owner didn't answer about the bill. I'm so upset owner's uncooperative and complacent attitude, and I feel like I need to do something. Please advice and help me … read more

I have just rented a house from the 1/1/20. When I saw the
when I saw the house for the first time the house had been trashed by the previous tenants ( I lived 300kms away at the time) since I saw the house I have been diagnosed with cancer and have bee undergoing treatment as I know the owners father they were willing to wait for me to move in and told me they would put a short term tenant in which they didn't manage to do I was told it was being renovated they painted cleaned up the house not sure if they replaced the carpet and one of the owners told me that a new air conditioner was being put in then explained that it would be put through a real estate agent I therefore signed a 12 month lease since moving in the old air conditioner has died the clothes line that was broken eventually got replaced the painting is not up to standard as ther are spots on the wall that have been missed which I can fix as the paint was left the stove isn't working properly the oven is so small I can't get my largest tray in there I have bought a new stove and oven which I have said I will put in but there may need to be a slight alteration for the oven which I have said that I will have done at my expense and to top it off the fuse in the meter box burnt out and the pipe under the sink in the bathroom burst and the real estate lady was going to leave me all night with no power to the kitchen (also maybe a fire hazard) and no water in the house until someone could come out and fix it in the morning she eventually sent someone to isolate the fuse and a plumber rang and walked me through how to get water on (cold only) as I said I am undergoing chemo and due to the temperatures we have had it has been unbearable living in the house due to no air conditioner I also have 4 grandchildren that live with me ages 10 to 18 also I have just messaged the real estate this morning to tell them the back sliding door needs new wheels as it is too hard to open and close but have not heard back from her I want to know if I have a legal reason to break the lease as my health is suffering … read more
