Good morning my mother...

Good morning my mother is on a level 4 dementia homecare package with resthaven with approx. $60000 in funds in her account. she has recently had a fall injury her rib. I have asked resthaven for assistance in removing the bath which has to step over to have a shower. I am planning on making it so that we can wheel a shower chair in as she becomes increasingly less mobile. Her carers have expressed their concern to me and identified this as a high falls risk. it is an old fashioned bath so quite high.

Resthaven have refused assistance as they say that I am requesting a renovated bathroom. this is not the case. I don't really mind what it looks like as long as it is safe. Are resthaven within their rights to hold my mothers money in her account when she is at risk at home. the whole plan is to keep her home as safely and for as long as possible. we have carers every day to assist with personal care. thanking you sue boe(###) ###-####

The funds in her account are they part of the bond or are they your mothers money?

Do you have a power of attorney for your mother?

I have power of attorney the funds are a govt contribution dad pays a certain amount each week and the govt adds to these funds. they have had care for many years an not used much until now hence the build up of funds

You have to check if that is for her accomodation and her day to day costs.

if it is then it cannot be used to make changes to her room.

Also have you had a quotation as to what it will cost to have the bathtub removed?

Have you had a report undertaken with recommendations that the current bathroom puts her at risk and that a shower is what is required?

This has to be done so you have the necessary evidence if you have to take this further.

It is a remodelling that you want as the bathroom has to be changed.
