I, Eric Carwardine, have been providing, for several years (3+), post-paid high-level mobile phones to the husband and wife couple of a family I regard as my extended family. One phone (to the husband) costs me $87.96 per month to service. The other (to the wife) about $121 per month. In all I have been rather close to this family for several (7+) years. The wife still holds my Enduring Power of Guardianship. At one stage she also held my Enduring Power of Attorney, registered with Landgate Western Australia. She was, in all respects, "me" financially. She actually did, with my full consent, sell a property I owned - a unit in Orelia, Western Australia. Proceeds of that sale netted $172,000, not one cent of which I received, nor requested. All the $172,000 went toward the mortgage for their first home in Maddington, Western Australia. I continue to pay several of their household bills, for example electricity supply. An independent observer could rightly claim that I had a more-than-casual acquaintance with the activities of this family, who by-the-way, are of Islamic/Turkish extraction. So it's unlikely, on the balance of probabilities, that I could plead ignorance of the use of their phones (and the Internet, when i was also providing their Telstra Broadband service) for activities which for several reasons the law would take a very dim view. I won't elaborate here on those reasons, just say I grow more uneasy by the day in providing them with electronic communication facilities.

Not yet, it's "Silly Season" here in Perth at the moment. Nobody's in their office.

Lawyer's Assistant: What steps have you taken so far?

Suspended, but not cancelled, use of their phones. Cancellation would involve me in very considerable early termination costs. The husband's phone contract has a further 22 months to run, the wife's expires in September 2019. Neither phone can currently be used to either receive or transmit. I am under quite some pressure from both husband and wife to lift the suspensions - which I could do.
