The guy from NBN has said that all the wiring is old and corroded in our street but NBN are doing nothing about it. Hi we are farmers living in Northern Vic in an area notorious for poor internet / phone reception. Approximately 3 months ago my husband Richard was contacted by Telstra to try out an internet package which they said would be much cheaper than Optus. My husband informed them that it was unlikely that it would work here as we have tried before and cant receive a strong enough signal. On being told that it would work by the Telstra representative and on being reassured that if it doesnt work we would not have to pay for it and that we would be reimbursed, my husband agreed to try it (also on the proviso that they send a technician out to set it up which never happened). After waiting nearly 3 months for a technician and having to pay set up fees and internet fees in between, we spent 2 days on the phone to over seas representatives to get a technician out here. They refused until we went through the protocol of setting it up over the phone. It did not work and so after a whole day of phone calls being put onto several different representatives and departments, they finally agreed to send a technician. The technician came out last Friday and after apologizing for the mucking around he said it will not work here and that he would submit this to Telstra. As of today, Telstra has disconnected all our phone services for unpaid bills. These bills include the internet - an internet service we have not used and cannot access.
