Hi John I am in Western Australia. I am permanent ongoing teacher at my school. On Monday I was asked to come in for a meeting to the office by the principal. She had another teacher there as a witness. I was told "I am standing you down you need to hand in your keys and work laptop and leave the premises" I asked what for and she replied "I don't have to tell you what for you just need to leave". I refused to leave until I got an answer. She said "By your own admission you called a parent and put a traumatised boy at risk". And I replied I did not put the boy at risk. This is the boy's Carer (he works for Child Protection Services) and he always wants a all from us to keep him updated on his boys and if we need him we call him. He has been connected to the school for four years and I have been teaching there for four years and this was always the process. When this parent comes into school he sits with the boys in class or speaks to them and they listen and settle down and focus on their work again.On Monday at 6:40am I get called into the office to be stood down by the principal. No 24hour notice, no meeting, no letter advising why I would be stood down...just told to leave.
This has been an ongoing drama at my school since the new principal and her husband arrived. They have only been there for 11 weeks and there has been so much chaos caused. There are five staff that are going through the same undue harassment and bullying.
We have complained numerous times to hour head office about them and nothing has been done....
I am currently on stress leave because this is draining me and I don't know what they are investigating or why they are investigating as there is nothing to investigate. I am stressed out because I don't know if I have a job or if this will tarnish my teaching career....Please help me or direct me to a lawyer here in WA
