My mother passed away 3 weeks ago. My mother passed away 3
My mother passed away 3 weeks ago. In the years just before that, she was in government housing (in Perth, W.A.), with my brothers and sisters looking in on her. As she progressively changed from being quite independent to suffering dementia, my brothers and sisters shared the task of calling in on her and doing some general cleaning, preparing meals, and looking after her banking. I never thought to be kept informed of her financial affairs because my two sisters just took control of that. I now have reason to be suspicious that my mother's financial affairs might have been manipulated to favour at least one or both of those sisters. Also there were cleanliness issues in the unit where my mother lived, just before she was put into a nursing home, about 18 months ago. I am also concerned about my mother's will, not so much what I might be left with, but whether it was legally prepared before my mother's dementia was realised. Sorry, I started the previous message and when I hit the "enter" key to start a new line, my unfinished message was sent. I am the only son (my mother's oldest) of 5 surviving children, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, who lives in Brisbane, all the others are in Perth. … read more

I'm hope you can point me in the right D, I hope you will be
Hi I hope you will be able to point me in the right direction. I'm trying to help my niece, to be able to get access to the services for proper home care for her Mum and Dad. She is in Sydney, and has had to resign from her jop to take care of her parents. She has been caring for them for nearly three years. My brother (her father), has Parkinson's disease, and is in the early stages of Dementia, and my sister in law has got terminal cancer. I am 73years old, live in Perth WA, and am a fulltime carer for my wife, who in June 2015, was afflicted with an aneurysm, and stroke. At that time I was prepared for the worst, however, my wife is thriving now due to the care that the system here in WA. She will never be able to cope as normal but we have a good provider here in WA, thanks to the help from Human Services, and the ACA Team. As I am not as capable as what I used to be, l thank God that we have great services here. I am not an ACAT recipient, but my wife who is level 4, and that helps me to cope with her everyday needs. … read more
