Refinanced investment property with brokerage...

Refinanced investment property with brokerage firm who sells properties to clients after the refinancing is completed.
It took 1 calendar year for this firm to complete the refinancing. We have settled in February. They offered us 1 property in Brisbane to purchase and wanted to sign on the dotted line right then and there.
we did not sign and told them we would do our due diligence first. We have done that and found out about this new suburb north of Brisbane. There were several building companies selling brand new turn key houses. The one the broker offfered was the most expensive by 30-50 K. We told them we will not purchase this property. Now they want us to pay $6000 for the brokerage they have done for us. This is the exact amount we would have paid for them if we bought the investment property.
The service they provided was very poor. We did not have access to out new homeloan for a month as they did not set it up. We had to go into our local branch to ask for help doing that. (we have bought in a trust so it was fairly complicated).
