My daughter is in a rental arrangement in Double Bay with a friend,on a 12 month lease which expires in July. Her friend is pregnant and due to deliver in July,so she decided that she wished to vacate and find new accommodation before her baby arrives. She moved out about a week ago and had advised and agreed with our daughter that she was happy to pay her rent obligation until 23June and that our daughter would cover the final month on her own.Her friend has now advised the managing agent she had to vacate the premises early because there was a problem with mould in her shower(which she had reported but it had not been rectified) and that it was a health hazard to both her and her unborn baby and accordingly she was terminating her lease(signed jointly) and not paying any further rent obligations. My daughteris concerned that she will be left holding the baby(literally) and have to assume responsib ility for the full full rental obligation until 23 July($1350 per month).Could you please provide some direction as to where our daughter legally and would she be responsible to meet all further obligations. Thanks Graeme Salter … read more

Apparently, the owner wishes to move in in February next year. … read more
