Australia (Victoria)
I recently travelled with an airline who, damaged a stroller (wheel missing) when arriving in Tasmania. The following occurred in short:
*contacted ground staff - they said an email to baggage claims they get back to you in 24 hours.
*Sent email that morning- with urgent action request detailing contact booking flight and luggage ref
* sent second email circa 48 hrs later arriving as no reply from first email
*called customer service- they escalated and said they will be in contact by phone or email that afternoon.
*No response
* Wife called Customer service - asked to complete a baggage claim online form (first we heard of this) customer service will make contact.
*email 2 days later with a Reference claim number but no advise (baby still without stroller or baby seat) - on holiday (reside in Singapore)
*Waited another 3 days nothing - no response
*called customer service again - advised they will reach out to us within 24 hours
*2 days later no response
*Decided to buy a stroller as we could not wait any longer and our holiday was being hampered by not have a stroller or the baby seat (in case of taxis - son under 14 months)
- brand or stroller has no official /registered repair centres in tasmania
* flew back to Melbourne for 5 days en-route to Singapore (home) told i could not take 2 strollers with only one infant travelling- had to leave damaged stroller ah relatives house in Tasmania
*continued to follow-up and call customer service for the next 5 days without success or workable response. even though a number of time a response within a specified time was advised.
*returned to Singapore (w/o damaged pram)
*Received a response via email finally - advising cannot pay for purchased stroller, obtain 2 quotes for repair from authorised repairer.
* advised based on their policy i could not travel with pram and pram now located in Tasmania needs to be shipped to Singapore and to Malaysia to meet thier requirements of two (2) quotes from authorised repairers (only one in Singapore and possibly one in Kuala Lumpur
*email quote for freight less any repair quotes (as stroller cannot be seen until shipped) and not shipping until airline agrees to pay.
*30 days on from original incident airline advises will not pay for shipping and only will pay if there is two (2) repair quotes.
Personally I have had enough of the un-workable approach to a problem cased by the airline themselves, nor do I think Australia (Victoria)
