That is not correct.
You have a contract with the party that sold you the unit and they are liable for its repair and maintenance under the warranty.
This is clear under the Act.
It is the party that you contracted with that provides you with the warranty.
I would suggest you contact the Department of Fair Trading in QLD and see if they can assist and if they can't you will have to sue them in QCAT for the cost of having the unit replaced or repaired.
